If we’ve said it once, we’ve said it a thousand times when it comes to selfies; lighting is *E*V*E*R*Y*T*H*I*N*G*. I’ve been known to climb on top of my bathroom cabinets to get the proper lighting. Risky but worth it.
How To Edit Nose On Facetune
It's never been easier to retouch your selfie videos. Install Facetune Video Now.
We all know that terrible lighting can cast some freaky shadows giving you a witch nose or sixteen chins. Even if you’re following our ultimate selfie guides to the fullest, you know that bad lighting can still give you weird highlights. Where the light hits your face, you’ll get highlights which can help provide you cheekbones and a nose like Bella Hadid. But, only if you get it right.
Now when you’re at home, you can climb on furniture as much as you like to get the right lighting. But when you’re out and about, it’s kinda frowned upon to jump onto your table/climb over onto someone else’s seat. Luckily there is a solution! Using an online app to edit a photo means you can snap a shot anywhere, no matter what the lighting is like, and then touch up later. Giving yourself killer cheekbones is super easy if you know how to add highlights. So, if you want a highlighter that’ll make your face pop, we’ve got you!
Step 1: With your selfie photo open in our Facetune2 selfie editor app, head to the retouch function. Scroll along the bottom bar until you can select the Glow option.
Step 2: Sweep your finger over the top of your cheekbone, down the bridge or your nose, and the top of your forehead to bring natural light to these high points.
Step 3: If you want an extra-strong glow, go to the Paint function and select the glitter option. Choose a light pink, yellow or pure white color depending on your skin colour and how bright you want your highlight to be.
Step 4: Swipe your finger over the areas you used the glow function. If you want a more intense color, go over the same area several times. Using a light yellow/gold color will give a beautiful golden glow while a white glitter is much brighter.
Bonus Step: If you want your highlight to really pop, use a brown shade slightly darker than your skin tone to give yourself a contour. The contrast will provide you with an extra highlight.

Nailing your highlight and your lighting is the difference between cheekbones that will earn you a modelling contract and cheekbones where the only contract you sign is for your mobile phone data. It’s all about the lighting, and if you’d followed our tips on the best time of day to take a selfie and still can’t find the proper lighting when you’re out, just snap a photo and give yourself a few touch-ups later. No one will know the difference.
